Fight Like A Girl Page 10
“What!” Bryan hissed.
Lilly couldn’t stand it any longer. She had to go. She ripped away from Grayson and took off running up the stairs. Grayson frowned but looked toward his father. “We got photos.”
“The judge has prior agreed to a closed statement and which…” Bryan told Grayson shrugging toward the officers.
“I know what that means. Go get the men some coffee. I’ll get a copy of those pictures and I’ll bring Lilly back down.” Grayson turned and disappeared back up the steps.
“Lilly…” he asked as he walked into his room. He looked around and he didn’t see her anywhere. Panic burst through him and he raced toward the window where a slight breeze blew in.
“Lilly!” he yelled as he looked out. He saw her. She was running… toward the house on the far side of the field…
Grayson thrust himself out the window and was down the nearby tree in seconds. Like a monkey, he was graceful. As he hit the ground he was running.
All Mine
Chapter 32
She had run back to the house and it had made Grayson fearful once she had disappeared out of his sight. But... then again. She had known well... heard something from that detective that Grayson hadn't picked up on... Frank was locked up.
Grayson raced after Lilly. He was fast, but she had a lead. He couldn’t catch up with her until she reached the door handle of Frank’s house.
“Lilly!” he whispered harshly as he snatched her wrist and yanked her back into his chest.
“Let me go!” She snarled.
“Lilly! What has gotten into you!?” he scolded.
She turned and glared. Grayson couldn’t imagine what had gotten into her and he was determined to figure it out. He held tight not daring to let her go.
“I got to get in there! He’s gone!”
Looking back Grayson smiled to himself once he found her in there. She was smiling well… after she finished glaring at him. For the first time in a while he had seen a REAL smile out of her. One that meant so much in just a small gesture.
He had found her digging through her brother's things in the room she so desperately wanted to go in. With Frank gone, she could easily get those mementos that could fill up her broken heart just a little. He was going to jail. The house was now, technically speaking, free game. Pictures, free game. Her mother's prized ruby necklace, free game. Her brother's favorite sweatshirt... free game.
He remembered telling Lilly she probably shouldn't be taking what she was, at least not until the Frank had gone to jail. But Lilly had replied, "It's been too long Gray. I don't care. It was my brother and my mother. The family I was deprived of. I'm taking this."
He nodded in acceptance and did as Lilly had asked, loading his arms up with a duffle bag of Lilly's own things and another filled with her brother and mother's items.
All those men had been imprisoned and it was a huge relief. The will Lilly's mother had left and with the help of a good lawyer, the cops on her side, i.e. Grayson's father and so many more, Lilly had received the house which had been left to her. Yes, it was a bit strange, Frank had surely been pissed when he found out, but he wasn't getting out and he knew there was no recourse he could take to get the home back.
Instead of keeping it, Lilly and Grayson had sold the home and its awful memories. She had kept her brother's and mother's things, but everything else was sold off.
Together the couple married and moved far from the town. Yes, they came to visit Grayson's family, and yes he still owned the gym, but memories kept them away most of the time.
Today Grayson had held his son for the first time as Lilly looked on in amazement at what the horrible circumstances had brought her to and she couldn't help but be thankful for her wonderful husband and new child. If it wasn't for that push over the edge that had lead her down the road to the gym that one fateful day, she and Grayson probably would have never been together and who knows what life she would have now.
The future of Lilly and Grayson, and their son, Rider, looked bright. And her life, no matter how hard it was it proved to be helpful to so many others out there in the world, as she had begun helping women in need. Grayson and Lilly had opened up a portion of the gym for those needing to learn to protect themselves from awful people in their lives. And many took the challenge. One... had even fallen head over heels for Duke who turned out to be the perfect match for the woman.
Lilly's life had helped so many looking back on her new life, she could never be more thankful for Grayson, for being there for her when she needed him the most.
The End.
